Built to Last is part of Tricky Hat Productions' wider Round our Place Ravenscraig project, exploring the past, present and possible futures of Ravenscraig through creative work with local communities. The project brings together local residents, young people, former steelworkers, artists and community groups to explore the landscape through storytelling, film, sound, performance, drawing and making.
Ravenscraig is a landscape of significant industrial history. Today, the landscape is changing again. Industrial remnants sit alongside new development, open spaces, plants and wildlife. Through the Round our Place Ravenscraig project, participants have been invited to think about what this landscape means now and what it might become in the future.
The work in this exhibition brings together some of these different perspectives. There is no single story of Ravenscraig. Instead, these works show how a place can hold many stories at once - stories of work and industry, memory and loss, nature and regeneration, childhood and imagination, and ideas about what might come next.
