About this event
Bring along the clothes and accessories you no longer use to SMILE Children's Charity and swap them for some lovely pre-loved items instead. By doing so you help to tackle textile waste by giving your garments a second life - and on top you might even find your new favourite outfit!
The event is open to the whole community and provides an affordable, inclusive and environmentally responsible alternative to buying new clothing. You are invited to bring clean, good-quality garments and accessories to the event. At the event you can browse a wide selection of donated items and choose replacements at no cost. Clothing that remains after the event is either made available through SMILE's community support activities or sold through their charity shop to help raise funds for families of children with disabilities, complex needs and serious illnesses.
During the event, friendly volunteers will be at hand to welcome you and support you with any questions you may have clothing care, textile recycling and other practical tips.
No need to book. Simply drop in at a time that suits you during the event.

About the organiser
SMILE Children’s Charity was founded in February 2024. The charity was inspired by an incredible young boy Justin Meek who sadly passed away suddenly in 2014 whilst on a family holiday in Florida. His death inspired his parents Wendy and Stephen to set up SMILE Children’s Charity in his memory. Their vision is to open a tranquil respite facility in Lanarkshire where families with children with disabilities or serious illness can relax, have fun and spend quality time together making memories.
With over 30 years experience in childcare and education, volunteering in the third sector and vitally personal experience of caring for children with disabilities and serious illness, Wendy is the driving force behind the charity.
